Welcome to the official home of the Since I Was Young fanzine.  We are all about improving atmosphere at Fir Park and beyond, something every Motherwell fan can agree has happened over the last few seasons... but we want to grow this more.

Never found too far away from the end section of the East or 'Up By' the drum, there are many people behind what we do and of all ages. As ever, all proceeds from scarfs, stickers, badges and of course the fanzine itself, go towards improving atmosphere at 'Well games as we look to re-invest funds in fan displays, banners, flags and the likes.

The printed press has had somewhat of a resurgence lately, showing that in the modern age printed media is still important within many a fanbase. New productions such as “STAND - Against Modern Football” and several successful established fanzines down south such as: “United We Stand” from Manchester and “When Skies are Grey” from Merseyside, continue to thrive as they have done for many years, confirming that fanzines can be a successful medium for broadcasting. Not only that, there is an abundance of writing, photography and illustration out there that deserves to be on paper, not just on a webpage that soon gets lost.

The fanzines of the 80s helped highlight many issues of concern in that period. "Great Leap Forward" started giving Motherwell fans a voice as it became our first fanzine and our very own Matt Johnstone is nearing 100 issues with “One Step Beyond” which has successfully cemented itself within, and has influenced, our support. So why can’t "Since I Was Young" do the same moving forward for a new generation?

Do you care about issues that are not about the price of a pie, the heat of a pie, or the lack of pies? Since I was Young looks to highlight issues within our support that truly matter but it is first and foremost a promotion and celebration of the culture developing within the East Stand at Fir Park.

Each issue will include nods to the past, present and future of Motherwell FC and what we can do to shape and improve it. We will discuss atmospheres at Fir Park and what we can do to make it better, louder and more consistent. It will provide an insight to the fan scene abroad with firsthand accounts from those who have been to and witnessed some of the most incredible atmospheres in world football. We will consult fan groups that we have been fortunate enough to meet on our European travels and we also aim to include cultural articles that interest many who are actively involved with improving the atmosphere at Motherwell such as; clothes, music and the likes. If you feel like you can contribute positively to the production, in any way, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Together the Motherwell support has shown what we are capable of off the park with an incredible display at Hampden in the Scottish Cup Final and a fair few actions since then. Lets not forget the atmospheres we have created away from home this season that have struck a real chord with the players. We are lucky to have a support that care passionately about our club, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank every fan who has donated, supported, promoted or joined in with the group at home or away.

Your effort is always hugely appreciated. - "SINCE I WAS YOUNG!"
